PARIS, FRANCE, July 10, 2001 - SanDisk Corporation (NASDAQ:SNDK) has opened a retail office for Southern Europe that will oversee the marketing of SanDisk flash memory cards and related products in France, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Greece, Turkey and the Canary Islands. The office, based in Paris, will be managed by Frederic Descombe, SanDisk's Southern European Retail Manager. He will report to Gerrit Van Hofwegen, European Retail Manager.
Van Hofwegen said, "Descombe will manage the marketing effort towards our growing network of distributors in Southern Europe. We already have excellent retail distributors for our products in France, Italy, Spain and the Canary Islands, and we recently signed up some high quality distributors in Greece, Portugal and Turkey who will begin distributing SanDisk products this month. Sales of consumer electronics products that use our flash memory cards for storage, such as digital cameras, cell phones and handheld computers, are growing in Southern Europe and we need to take advantage of all the new opportunities to sell our flash cards, card readers and card adapters."
